Culturally ConnectED: Bridging Culture and Science through Anchoring Phenomenon

This Capstone Research Project aimed to make Biology more accessible to 9th grade students by incorporating anchoring phenomenon that connected with students' life histories, cultures, and interests, as a response to students feeling disconnected from the Biology curriculum. By using real-life examples and experiences that resonated with the students, the project aimed to make Biology more engaging and relevant to their lives. The goal was to increase student interest and understanding of Biology and engagement with scientific processes ultimately leading to improved academic performance and success.
